The Mountain entry gate before Wolf Cape
Frost Resistance Mead is the item that makes early Mountain exploration survivable. Before Wolf Cape, frost damage triggers on every exposed ridge. Two or three doses before a silver mining run stops frost from ending the trip before the first vein is found.
- +Brew before your first Mountain run, not after you learn what frost damage costs.
- +The effect lasts 10 minutes — time your redrink before a long climb, not after frost starts.
- +After Wolf Cape is crafted, frost mead becomes optional but still useful at extreme altitudes.
How to make Frost Resistance Mead in Valheim
Craft the mead base at the Cauldron with 10 Honey, 5 Thistle, 2 Bloodbags, and 1 Greydwarf Eye. Ferment the base for 2 in-game days at the Fermenter to produce 6 bottles. Thistle grows in Black Forest and Swamp. Bloodbags drop from Swamp leeches.
- +Farm Thistle before the Mountain trip — it appears in Black Forest and near Swamp edges.
- +Leeches in Swamp water are the most reliable Bloodbag source.
- +Brew 2–3 batches so you have enough for the full silver mining phase, not just the first climb.
When do I need Frost Resistance Mead in Valheim?
Any Mountain run above snowline before Wolf Cape. You also need it for Moder prep if the arena is at high altitude. After Wolf Cape, the need drops sharply but it remains useful for extreme elevation during silver mining or Dragon Egg transport.
How to get it
Brew at a fermenter from mead base.
