Mountain metal priorities
Silver opens the strongest defensive and offensive upgrades before Plains. Wolf Cape is the progression unlock for cold resistance. Frostner is the best blunt weapon before Blackmetal — and one of the strongest Plains weapons even after the tier advances.
- +Wolf Cape first if frost damage is still active — it permanently solves the frost problem.
- +Silver sword or Frostner next if weapon damage is the bottleneck.
- +Silver armor after Wolf Cape if you plan extended Mountain silver farming.
How to find silver in Valheim
Silver veins are buried underground in Mountain biomes and are invisible without the Wishbone. Equip the Wishbone, move slowly across rocky terrain, and listen for the pulsing signal. When the pulse quickens, dig down — veins are typically 5–20 units underground.
- +Bring a bronze or iron pickaxe — silver veins require mining, not surface collection.
- +Mark the vein with a map pin before digging so recovery runs can find it again.
- +One large vein is enough for Wolf Cape and a first silver weapon if mined completely.
How much silver do I need in Valheim?
Wolf Cape requires 4 Silver and 5 Wolf Pelts. Frostner requires 10 Ancient Bark, 30 Silver, and 5 Ymir Flesh. A full set of Wolf Armor needs 20+ Silver. Budget for your priority first: cape and one weapon before full armor is the efficient path.
How to get it
Mine silver veins with Wishbone and smelt ore.
