Spend the first cores on infrastructure

Surtling cores are the switch that turns Black Forest exploration into progression. The first priority is a charcoal kiln and smelter; after that, extra cores make portals and backup routes possible.

  • +Clear burial chambers until you can build both kiln and smelter.
  • +Do not spend every early core on portals before metal production exists.
  • +Keep spare cores for portal pairs once fine wood is available.

How to get it

Loot burial chambers or kill surtlings.
